Ok, so my boyfriend very kindly brought me the sims complete boxset the other day. I loaded it onto the pc, and when it was all done, I have to enter the sims makin' magic to play it. However, the infinite money cheat I had for superstar does not work with makin' magic, and I have looked on some of the cheat websites, but to no avail, so I am imploring you, the yahoo answers public, to help me out here if you know the cheat! Many thanks!

the cheat that you are all suggesting (rosebud) is the onethat works for superstar- will this work for makin magic?

ctrl + shift + C then type rose bud then enter.
press ctrl + shift + c again then type !;!;!;!; as many as you want ( or until the limit ^_^ ).
Then press ctrl + shift + c then press ctrl + C ( umm im not really sure, it's been a while since i last played this game so i think its ctrl + c or ctrl + z or ctrl + v? Sorry!!!)

Open cheat window, type in rosebud and hit enter.
Open the cheat window again and put in !; highlight it and copy it using Control+C and then hold down Control+V until you can't fill the screen anymore, then delete the last !; and put an M - hold down the enter key. A message saying something like "invalid cheat code" should come up - ignore it, that's just the M that's keeping your full cheat window open.

After you've used rosebud, try !;!;!;!;!; The longer you type the pattern for, the more money you should get.
I like to give them enough money just to build their walls, a bed, a toilet and a sink then make them earn the rest =)

control-alt-C then rosebud. It is not infinite, but gives you dough.
