True crimes get me too. I've read the Diary of Jack the Ripper, and the Harold Shipman story, both made good reading. I read something on Fred and Rose West once too, that was interesting.

I've recently discovered Alistaire MacLean's novels, Even though they are fiction, they are awfully interesting, full of excitement, plot twists and suspense.
Sample titles: The Guns of Navarrone, Force Ten from Navarrone, Where Eagles Dare, Night Without End, Bear Island.

Mitch Albom has written two fantastic books. Don't let the names fool you, they are the best books I have read in ages and I am not a religious nut (far from it)
Tuesdays with Morrie
The Five People you Meet in Heaven.
