A dealer brought 10 sewing machines in Rs 8000 and had sold them at a profit equal to s.p. of 3 machines.....find the s.p. of one machine?

What is so great about this question. Answer is Rs. 1,142.86 Assume x to be selling price of each machine. so selling price of 10 machines is 10x. Since profit is equal to selling price of 3 machines (3x), therefore total selling price (10x) minus profit (3x) equals purchase price (Rs. 8000). Or in other words 10x - 3x=8000. Solve it to find out x (selling price) = Rs. 1142.86.

Rs 8000/10 = Rs 800
Total Profit = 10*(sp - 800) = 3sp
10sp - 8000 = 3sp
7sp = 8000
sp = 8000/7 = Rs 1143

c.p. of one machine will be 8000/10=800
he sold the machines at 3*800=2400 extra
so he get total of rs. 8000+2400=10400
so the s.p. of one machine is rs. 1040.

I need your profit mark up percentage

Price of 1 is 800
therefore profit is 2400

Formulea= Cost price/100 X 100 +Profit mark up

so 8000/100 X 2400

Therefore Selling price is 192000

I dont think my answer is right thoug but i gave you the formula so when you find the mark up try it.

profit=sp-cp
cp for one machine is 8000/10
profit for one machine is = sp-800
for ten machine=10*(sp-800)
total profit=3*sp
therefore 3*sp=10*(sp-800)
sp=Rs.1142.857/-
