Yes, online shopping is catching up in India. I have purchased all my airline tickets online in past 2 years. Indian Railways website (irctc.co.in) has the distinction of largest number of online transactions daily. A large number of rail travellers are now buying their rail tickets from comforts of their office/home. As for other products, it is still a nascent market. You don't buy things like clothes/jewellery by looking at pictures. You need to sample it.

Online shopping has no market in India.
People here prefer seeing things physically before buying them, also we Indians have a habit of bargaining.
