Good question! As far as I know, neither country "hates" the other country. Iran thinks that Israel's position as a country is untenable and will lead only to more violence in the region and the United States gives Israel its full support because the United States believes that if Iran and other Arab nations were to follow Israel's lead, (reclaiming the land, building towns, roads, communities, cities, a strong democracy etc) the entire region would prosper.
Then again, Iran is very proud of its scientific accomplishments in the field of nuclear energy. It has condensed many years of research into a smaller amount of time. This will be very helpful, if they can build a safe reactor. The friction has come about when they want to keep researching nuclear weapons. No one wants yet another state with nuclear weapons, let alone a state which has threatened to "wipe Israel off the face of the earth."
I have included the websites of the leaders of both countries. I think that you can see that there doesn't seem to be any hatred between the actual leaders. If there is hatred, it is probably stirred up somewhere in the press or by others, but the leaders seem to be behaving in a very reasonable manner.

Iran and America became permanent foes ever since shaws regime fell. Shaw as liberal..but hardline islamist asked for tough islamic measures..shaw was over thrown and iran became islamic republic. Shaw fled to America
The iran hostage crisis further aggraveted the relationship between iran and america.

he Iran hostage crisis was a 444-day (about 14 months) period during which student proxies of the new Iranian regime held hostage 66 diplomats and citizens of the United States inside the U.S. embassy in Tehran. The standoff lasted from November 4, 1979 until January 20, 1981. During the crisis, some hostages were released, but 52 were held until the end. The United States launched a rescue operation, Operation Eagle Claw, which failed with the deaths of eight servicemen. The crisis is considered to have caused President Jimmy Carter of the United States to lose his re-election attempt, and punctuated the first Islamic revolution of modern times.

Iran hates the US because they believe there should be a pan-muslim state domenating the world & that Israel is in the way. America prevents this from happening & Iran is powerless to stop it.

America doesn't care about Iran, except that it corrupts a decent religion only so that it can oppress its people for the benefit of the powerful Imams. It now seeks technology that it can use to make nuclear weapons & use those to stand up to the US & attack Israel. Even if it only uses this technology for electricity, it will have the knowledge to make bombs & that knowledge will be given to terrorists who wish to attack the US & other democracies. Iran is dangerous to us & we cannot allow that. The people are good & we don't wish them harm. We only wish that they would be able to throw off the Guardian Council & instead elect reformers.

One is essentially secular, pro-reason, pro-individual, and pro-life; the other is a statist dictatorship that is the polar opposite. The two cannot overlap.
