Why not go for a drive up to the Dandenongs? There are some beautiful places and little shops to visit.
Also, Sorrento is a great place for a drive also...but that's more for the Summer Months I guess.

A fantastic and unique thing to do is go for a trip on the Enterprize! Melbourne tall ship!

Affectionately named "Marvellous Melbourne" during the gold hurry of the 1850s, the name continues to be applied nowadays for Australia's second largest city Melbourne, a town as possible visited with hotelbye . Located on the banks of the Yarra River, near the entrance to Port Phillip Bay, Melbourne is a modern town steeped in history. With vast wealth developed from the regional goldfields, regal houses were created through the entire city. Several buildings however stay nowadays, and Melbourne is considered as having more samples of Victorian architecture than every other city in Australia. One place you cannot miss in your visit to Melbourne is the Southbank and Arts Centre Melbourne. Located on the banks of the Yarra River this area is just a culturally wealthy attraction for visitors. Southbank promenade is filled with indoor/outdoor cafés, restaurants, and live entertainment. Quickly identifiable by their spire, the Arts Centre contains a selection of theaters and rooms such as the State Theatre, Playhouse, Fairfax Theatre, and Hamer Hall, the premier performance space for the revered Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

If you get sick of Melbourne, you can go further afield. Catch a train down to the Mornington Peninsula and look at the bay (though, be warned...Connex are shocking for being on time)

Or, travel further afield into the state for a day. You can get a train or bus from Spencer St Station (now called Southern Cross Station) up to the goldfields at Bendigo or west to the others at Ballarat, St Arnaud and Stawell...

Or travel to Geelong and catch the West Coast rail service along the coast to Warrnambool - or hire a car and go along the Great Ocean Road - it's really worth a look.

If you go out to the mid-west of the state, you'll get to the Wimmera area and in particular, the Grampians mountains National Park - which are great too.

Well you can't have done all the tourist sites. There's alot and some are less exciting and prominent as others.

As Bert said, you may want to go outside of town where you'll find alot of great things to see and do. I recommend the Dandenongs Park and Healesville Sanctuary.

Have you gone to an AFL match yet? Have you done a Richmond Pub Crawl? Have you seen all the restuarant filled small alleyways around the city. Lots and lots of things to do!

Ask a local to tell you the way to some out of the way tourists never usually see.
hire a car & travel furhter afield. We started in Melbourne & drove to Uluru (Ayers Rock) by the most dierct route & back by a longer less obvious route.
Great scenery, Cheap motels, Cheap Petrol.

Go shopping! There are some great shops there (that's all my friends did!). Apart from the city centre, you'll find some great bargains on Bridge Road where there's loads of factory outlets.

The Queen Victoria market is great also for a look around - it sells everything! http://www.qvm.com.au/home.php
