People have a tendency to check everything that comes out of their own bodies. Out of the nose - they look at it carefully! Some things they smell. Some things they check out the colour. Maybe, it's a primitive thing; we sort of get an advance warning of what went up or nose - or a warning that we may have to make a dash behind some bushes some time soon - when we detect that certain odour. Maybe, certain odours tell us we've eaten something that doesn't agree with us - at some primitive level in our subconscious minds.

that's just gross i don't know anyone that likes the smell of their own fart but i think what is meant to be said is that people can handle their own fart smell, to them it is not disgusting but soemone else's is just vile. I think people don't mind the smell of their own farts because it is their butt! But they don't actually LIKE it or poke their nose in it to get the 'great smell'.

I wouldn't say I enjoy smelling my own flatulence, and haven't met anyone who has. I find my own gas more tolerable than others, but far from to my liking. I would love fresh cut roses or something, but that just doesn't seem to happen when I pass gas.

It's because we like what WE eat, but others don't share our "tastes." It's either that, or we're extremely proud and must "outdo" our friends...hehehe
