Either get your own cat, or try planting peppermint around and about, they hate it.

This is such a difficult problem......I am a keen gardener and I empathise.

I also like cats and have four...and its not true that cats only use other people's gardens.

It is a myth that cats don't poop on lawns. I have seen them do it!! Of course this is a problem if you love your garden, and especially if you have young children. It spoils the ambience!!! And when they pee, brown patches appear too. Horrible. How can such beautiful creatures be so anti-social?

I have tried everything - even asking the cats nicely...

Most of the deterrants you can buy don't work. I found one that did - called "Get off!" and it is strong smelling green gel. Trouble is that it spoils the delicate smell of fragrant flowers in your garden - but that is preferable to the smell of cat doings!

Harming the cats is not an option because you have to think of their owners - just imagine if they were owned by a sad old lady or a little child. Also, as a cat lover, I have to discourage any viiolence towards cats (though the thought is understandable!!)

My ex-partner, a psychologist who hated cats, used to swear by those long range water pistols. He used to keep a Terminator sized one handy at all times and it did work - but it ruins your social life.

I guess if you're really serious you might want to consider getting a dog (if you like dogs) However, unless you take them for three walks a day, you get rid of one problem and give yourself another!!

If at all practical, I would suggest you make it difficult for the cats to get in to your garden. Make it an "inhospitable environment" for the cats in whatevr way you can. Yell at them like a maniac every time you see them. It might not be foolproof, but at least you will be expressing your rage!!!

Sorry not to be more helpful...let me know if you find something that works!!!

You can buy products that keep cats off your lawn and border, but some people swear by citrus peel. Just put pieces of shredded citrus peel (orange, lemon, grapefruit) on your lawn and the cats will stay away. They also hate pepper, so you could try sprinkling that on your lawn, but you will have to re-apply it after ever shower of rain. Good Luck!

If it's on the lawn then its not a cat, cats always bury theirs. Could be a fox or badger.

Your entire lawn? Unless some of the spray smells work I cant imagine how you can keep them off of all of it. I thought they liked to poop in dirt or sand and cover it up. Ask at PetSmart.

You can buy this spray at Garden Centres and DIY shops, which repels both dogs and cats. Works well but quite smelly. For persistent uninvited cat visitors, I have a water pistol ready at hand: it doesn't hurt them but they hate it and they will stay out of your garden much longer!

Apparently if you put a plastic pop bottle full of water in the middle of the lawn it puts them off.

Or, get a cat, cats don't sh1t in their own back yard, but they don't sh1t in another cats back yard either.

Provide them with a litter box. Actually cats do prefer the use of a litter box to 'yard'.

Cats dig a hole and bury there poop, so why is it bothering you- they dig into a Lawn, they find a sandy area.

They hate pepper, so scatter some around your garden or get a friend who has a dog to bring it round once in a while
