I think it comes down to a serious lack of vocabulary, they all need to read more.

It is a learned behavior that is very, very hard to break. And it has nothing to do with reading because I taught myself how to read when I was only 4 years old and still read some kind of book almost every day. I'll bet I was swearing at the same age because everyone around us did it when we were kids, and we just learned that it was part of the language I guess. 35 years later I still catch myself searing for no apparent reason, other than it feels comfortable.

I remember back in the days; when I used to swear a lot; and realise its not a good thing. People use it as a way of expression. When I used to frequently use it I would`nt say it was down to ignorance but it was the way you`ll say hello to your friends, or you see a nice ting on the road, and you want to express to your friend how sweet she is; At the end of it all swearing is a way of shortening a expression, on how you feel strongly about it.

All I know is that swearing is the last thing you will ever forget to do. I know because my husband had a stroke and he could swear really well, but lost the ability to form sentences with more then 3 words. Or is this a 'guy' thing?

Some do it because they think it's the only way to emphasise what they're saying. And some swear because they've a small vocabulary either due to laziness or a learning difficulty.

Lack of ability to express themselves, lack of education, or sometimes that's the most constructive way to let out the anger.
