Read this and you will understand the whole thing about OFFSIDE.
Offside is a foul on those players who are behind the whole line of defenders that are about to receive the ball coming from the strikers' teammates who are infront of the defenders. i.e.
- t1 has the ball.
- t1, t2 and s1's opponents are d1, d2, d3, d4 and the goalie (goalkeeper).
___t1________t2___
_d1___d2___d3____
_______________d4
_____s1__________
_________________
_____goalie_______
- s1 is a lone striker behind the whole line of defenders as you can see while t1 has the ball and wants to pass it to s1.
Note * It is only an offside when t1 shoots the ball to s1. If t1 still has the ball but s1 is already behind the defenders, then, it is not yet an offside.
Note * It is also an offside when t1 shoots the ball to t2 eventhough t2 is not behind the whole line of defenders but* if s1 is behind the whole line of defenders.
Note * If s1 is behind the goalie and t1 managed to dribble the ball through the line of defenders and t1 managed to lob the ball or shoot the ball past the goalie to s1, then, it is not an offside.
example:
-t1 has the ball. He shoots it to s1 that is already behind the goalie(opponent). IT is NOT an offside. Goalies are not included in the offside rule.
__d1______d2__
______t1_____t2
______________
_____goalie____
_s1___________
Offside fouls do not result in cards or penalties. It only results in free-kicks. Offside fouls can be used on one or more players at the same time. example, if s1 has a teammate called s2 behind the whole line of defenders, s1 and s2 can be considered offside at the same time.
