The scientific method, which all of the fields of science (biology, physics, chemistry, etc) adhere to, as well as medicine, was a concept thought of in Europe. Since it was invented because there was pretty much no consistent way to examine things before that, it had no competition for becoming the dominant method of research and discovery.

Also, since it had to spread from there to other places, it took time to catch on and has to compete with other theories which have traditionally held sway in other parts of the world. The long story short on that one is that the countries where Christianity is very popular also happen to be the countries where the scientific method had no serious competition, so it's been practiced more whole-heartedly in those places, leading them to gather more knowledge and make more discoveries, in recent history, as a result (being rich and sucking most of the resources out of the rest of the globe doesn't hurt their ability to do it, either).

However, Christian countries aren't responsible for all the scientific developments, research, and inventions in the world.

Look at how much is invented in Japan, and it's a Shinto country. The scandal around the one doctor aside, South Korea does a lot of great biomedical research... also not a Christian country. India's had no shortage of its own scientific and medical discoveries, and they're Hindu.

All sorts of people make discoveries across the globe. =)

They haven't. Obviously before two thousand years ago, and therefore before christianity a lot of inventions and scientific developments took place in Egypt and Greece, as well as India, China and Japan. Take the wheel for example, often considered the most important invention of all time.

It was a muslim, in a muslim country, who arguably invented the most important mathmatical concept, the number zero, where the European and other christian countries failed to do so.

Even today a lot of significant research is done in Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Pakistan, Malaysia, Egypt (all Muslim countries), India (about every religion bar christian) and Israel (jewish). Japan is extremely good at this sort of thing and is not a christian country.

The reason that today the most significant developments are done in Christian countries is not because they are christian. It is purely because they can afford it. There was a time when muslim countries were richer and could afford it over christian countries, and muslims invented a lot in these periods.

This is a case of a good correlation, but a the correlation leads to a false cause for the correlation.

That's a bit sweeping of a statement. 1000 years or so ago, the Arabic countries had the most brilliant minds for those times and made great strides in Math (they discovered the concept of ZERO), the developed the alphabet we use today, they were the astronomers of their age (the 3 wise men were arabic) and in medicine.

Then along came the muslim religion and their knowledge and skills were lost because the religious leaders feared a knowledgable and informed populance... Sort of what the religious right and the Bush Administration is doing to America today.

Then there are the Chinese, who have developed some of the greatest scientific minds EVER but they have been discounted and looked down on by the Western Establishment because they aren't Christian.

They absolutley have not all been invented or developed by strictly christian societies. Do you even realize what you said. I'm a christian, and still that is simply untrue. So many contributions have been made before there even were any christians. And some of the most recent by non christians. Do some more reseach.

Perhaps "science" had to protect itself against the church who executed anyone who questioned their story.

Other religions viewed understanding the world as understanding their god. hence most research was done by ancient greek and chinese before crist was born.
And while the christian church destroyed the old libraries and knowledge, Islam saved as much as possible and went on to develop key methodologies, research and invention.
And even in aboriginal cultures scientific research and invention are there if you are prepared to look without the bias of your cultural stereotype.

The scientific method as we know it today was developed by Muslims. The Rennaissance was started in Muslim countries and brought to Europe.

Basically, you're full of $hit.

Absolutely not true. The problem is that Western media, history books, lesson plans, colleges, etc all focus on the US or western Europe.

Imagine how different human history would be if gunpowder wasn't invented by the Chinese?

That's what you read about in the Western media and what might be taught in Western education, but it is not true.
We would not have math without the ZERO! It was developed in an Arab country.
