I am looking to set up a distribution business in the States. I am familiar with the Federal tax benefits of a Delaware LLC. I would like to know which state has the least amount of tax to pay on business operations. I will probably set up on the SE coast. The short list possibilities are Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and possibly Alabama. Any advice or professional knowledge on this topic would be hugely appreciated.

Florida has some quite beneficial structures for businesses. As well as a healthy, pro-business tax structure, Florida is also a "right-to-work" state. This has a few nice benefits on the actual operational overhead issues if you are going to have any sort of staff.

I am not certain if you are looking at full incorporation or an LLC structure, but there is a nice little FAQ on both for Florida here:

Florida and Texas have no state income tax. However, you should make sure that the state you incorporate in recognizes LLC's as some states do not. Additionally, although you incorporate in a state you may have to file income taxes, corporate and individual in the states where you do business.

Probably Seatle. Or California. Both of them will fall off the face of the Earth.
