Hell with the luggage the Prof. can make a coconut into a radio but cant fix a hole in the side of a d@mn boat!!!!!

Did they? I thought that Gilligan always wore that same red shirt, and the skipper wore the blue shirt with white pants... the girls (MaryAnn, and Ginger) had changes of clothes, as did the Howels, but I think the prof wore the same clothes in every episode as well...
So apparently Ginger, MaryAnn, and the Howels were traveling somewhere, and simply decided to take the 3 hour tour to kill time before their flights were schedualed to leave.

It was a three hour tour around the island but the ship took 6 months to get there..he he he!

Well maybe they brought it in case they got seasick or just wanted to change their outfit incase they went somewhere cool. In all regards it's probably a good thing they did take suitcases since they were stranded on that island for God only knows how long.
