The hardest thing is to get people to trust you enough to give you projects, and most importantly pay you to do it. First thing you will need is a good portfolio of work done. Work for really low rates or even for free if necessary. People will be more willing to give you a chance if monetary risk is low. In return, ask them to give you a writter testimonial if they are happy with your work. Once you have collected enough, put these together as a presentation kit and look for bigger projects. At the end of the day, you will need to set your expectation right, this will not happen overnight. It will take time, a long time instead. But if you do it well, you will be harvesting from your effort 2-3 years down the road. And this will be your no 1 asset.

Hey there.
What you want to do actually is called FREELANCING.
I recently joined this site and am already working:
http://www.rentacoder.com
It's really secure and great way doing work from home. Basically, Buyers post their software requirements and Coders bid for how much they will charge. The Buyer then selects the coder he sees fit for his work and Presto, Money in the Bank!!
Another one is: http://www.getafreelancer.com

no matter what people say dont work cheap, charge what youre worth, whether thats 3 or 10 times other peoples prices . .
if you work for cheap or free youll have the 'cheap' stink on you forever . .
throw a lot of darts, apply for 1000 jobs maybe youll get 1-5 decent jobs from it
