The proposed Legislative & Regulatory Reform Bill now before Parliament will give ministers the power to alter any law passed by Parliament, without the consent of Parliament. Some experts are calling it the Abolition of Parliament Bill. How can we prevent such a piece of legislation reaching the statute book?
(No writing to my M.P. is no good, he's a minister)

We had something similar passed here last decade. We called it the LINE ITEM VETO. It allowed the president to cross out lines of legislation passed before signing it into law. The purpose was to stop idiot lawmakers from adding totally unrelated items to a bill (ie. the federal government shall be responsible for determining jurisdictional boundries . > and $50 million shall be approved for pothole repair in Pittsburg)
The line item veto allowed the last bit to be stricken from the passed legislation and was intended to undo what has become the main gridlocking habit of the day. pas a piece of legislation that conbines two or more unassociated things so as to make it unpalatable or to piggyback onething that outerwise would not get passed.
We no longer have people up in arms and perhaps this is what your bill is really about,
If not, your constitution should have basis to challenge this law, should it pass.

Good day UK. Sorry to say I've not kept up with your news much, but this Abolition of Parliament Bill sounds quite drastic. The only one to stop it from passing, it seems, is Parliament, as it is before them, correct? I cannot imagine Parliament allowing Ministers to rule/over-rule over them? So what's wrong with this picture. I certainly hope you voted for the right person into Parliament, so that makes you and your fellow UKers the fighting front.
Wish you the best, and hope for the best result.
Greetings from the USA.

You must be in England. I don't know, but in America, democracy ended years ago. We are now under the control of the ACLU (Amer. Civil Liberties Union) who has taken the rights of the moral majority and given them to the immoral and unethical people who are a minority.
