there are some programs which r still running in backgroup withoout your knowledge........

and if by interrupt they are not closed..... your windows never gone for shut down.

for that you have to remove them from process .....
-- open task manager by right click on task bar
-- go to process tab and checck

for each time it is not convenient so go to start-> run and enter msconfig and go to startup tab and remove unnecessory proccess....

i think you will get your solution....... if not then tell me........

It could be a number of different things. When it gets "frozen" like that, and won't respond to a command to shut down or off....try holding the off button down for about 5 seconds. The computer should override anything else that is running and shut itself off.

Came back to this and saw your comment. You won't lose anything or damage the computer by holding the off button down to override. Have done this several times myself. It's recommended in the owners manual as a solution for a computer that won't respond.

When was the last time you did a Windows Update?

http://update.microsoft.com/

There were some fixes for a problem like what you describe.

Also check for spyware and run an AV scan.

...assuming your windows program is not damaged.

Turn it off by the plug.If nothing happen after 5 minutes than that means it's frozen. The only solution is pulling the plug. You might want to give it a little break to strengthen up more.Maybe 30 minutes.

The first thing that I always suspect is if you have run Disk Defragmenter and Disk Cleanup. If not, I suggest that you do so. I don't know enough about detecting a virus but I could be of more assistance if you are able to e-mail me. Good luck.

This has happened to me before, I had a virus that was messing with my shutdown files. I ran my antivirus and it works good now. Try to run antivirus and see if that works for you, too. Otherwise, try to run your windows operating system disk and use the repair method of it.

i think you have some problem with u boot.inf file or exit.exe file. see if this file are corrupted then your dose not shut down or restat . the one why is to insert the OS CD and get all Ur files repaired. even after doing this Ur system gives you same problem then reformat it in correct way.
