Why don't cops realize that everyone smokes weed?

cops everywhere arrest ppl for possessing or smoking weed, why don't they just realize that it's not damaging, and focus themselves on more important issues for example harder drugs or crimes or other things. of course, if they happen to fall upon somebody who is like smoking or who has it on them when they arrest them for something else, yea thats normal. but to actually seek it out... waste of tax money

~Gee, good point. And everybody smokes crack too, and uses hookers and bet through bookies. And they speed, drive drunk, shoplift, break into people's home and steal and all manner of other stuff the cops overlook.

Tell you what. Post a list of the laws you want to ignore this week and I'll talk to my local police chief and tell him to have his boys lay-off. Just for you.

I don't smoke it, but I think it should be legalized.

My personnal belief is that speeding tickets, weed, and other things are just to give the Government more money. Heck, I would not be surprized if the US government didn't bring some of the harder drugs in so they could make double money on it. Sell it, then arrest people later for having it.

In most scenarios, I don't think they are searching people for weed rather than doing other things. But, they follow a certain routine, if they see something unusual they might want to search you, and if they're right, then most likely they find something.
And in most cases alot of crimes have something to do with drugs, which brings up the arrest. And then people who see it think that they are just rollin around looking for people with weed.
Also, its not the cops fault that weed is illegal, and you can be arrested for it. They just enforce the laws that are already set.

Uuuummmm because its an illegal drug. Come on people. This question could be asked for many different things. ie: Stop Signs, Speeding, Red Lights, etc. You just need to be responsible and if you get caught take what you have coming to you. Be a grown up and accept the fact, that if you break the law there is that possibility of getting caught.

coming from a family that is full of police officers, smoking any form of substance is bad for your health. they are even trying to put laws in smoking ordinary cigarettes now; you have to be over 21 to buy a packet and with a proof of age card. if you lived here in Australia you would be arrested by now for dabbling in weed.

Because they too smoke the same. They have to do some job for being a policemen. Whenever they find no important work, they wil take up this one as important work with focus.

I was a cop, and I never smoked it. Peace officers swear an oath to uphold the laws of their states etc..., and it's illegal. Your gripe should be with the legislators who actually write the laws making it illegal, not the cops who merely uphold their oaths and enforce the laws on the books.

what they realize is that people that smoke weed have a very skewed idea about reality. not everyone smokes weed. in fact, i know no one that does. so you re way off, and way out of touch. it does impair your skills, and it is damaging. once you destroy those brain cells, they are not being replaced.

Because the job of police officers is to enforce the law. The judges decide what to do with you based on the laws. And it is up to us to either make or change the current laws.
