I'm taking a 2-week trip to Vietnam and want to spend a few days at a beach. Doesn't need to have a ton of nightlife. Just clean water and a nice beach.

when the water is clean, nha trang is the best place around, but sometimes ,especially after a heavy rain the tide can bring in a lot of muddy water.. and sometime garbage.usually in the afternoon. but nha trang is the place to go for 2 reasons :1 it may be the only city where the beach is right where the action is. towns like da nang and hoi an , and phan rang have lovely beaches but they are away from the city. also from nha trang you can get a motor bike driver to take you to doc let [ pronounce.." yop let"] another nice beach about a hr away... very scenic drive or BAI DAI[ pronounced " buy yi"][ long beach] in near by cam ranh.... in nha trang consider staying at the Dong Phuong hotel on nguyen thien thuat street... very reasonable and they will take real good care of you ... about 5 min walk to the beach. oh, definately get up early one day[ 5 am] and go down to the beach... you wont believe it! you can go back to bed later if you must. know that bai dai is pretty isolated [ or was last time i was there, 2 yrs ago] so bring a friend and food and drink..... it is beautyfull! a motor bike driver will take you to either of these beaches and wait around 2-4 hrs to take you back for about $7 us

Oh hoh... I'm Vietnamese. I've just spent my last week to go to a very beautiful beach in Nha Trang (it's not nah trang hehe)
When you get there, ask the ppl there to take you to Hon Tam beach... it's an islet of Nha Trang... looks a bit like Hawaii. Nha Trang is in the South of Vietnam. If you go to the North, let's try Ha Long Bay or Do Son... Viet nam has an island named Phu Quoc which has recently been ranked the most beautiful tourist hub of Vietnam. Let's enjoy it!

Nha Trang has probably the most cleanest beach in all of Vietnam, Ha Long Bay has the most beautiful scenery you could possibly imagine, Phan Tiet a very quite lovely place with nice beaches but little night life, Phu Quoc is an island resort that must be visited. Then you have other places like Vung Tau (and forget all that crap about Gary Glitter, he was set up), this place has plenty of night life and a small stretch of beach that is quite nice. Long Hai (near to Vung Tau) is a very remote place but a nice beach. there are so many places to choose from it is almost impossible to mention them all.

Try beaches by Ha Long Bay. It's one of the Natural Wonders of the World. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking.

Hi Gerrygollw,
It's called Cam Ranh Bay. It was a major US military bay during in the VN war. It was occupied shortly by the Russians. Recently, Ive heard the Vietnamese government are wooing the Yankees back to this bay, to gain leverage w/ the big bully Red Chinese. Despite all that, you're right, it's really beautiful there.
