It truly depends on the service and if the attorney is a specialist in that field.
If it is a routine service (divorce, bankruptcy, incorporation). The attorney's secretary should be able to give you a flat rate. Otherwise, ask what the hourly rate is.
Don't be afraid to ask around, and remember that sometimes going with a more experienced attorney is more affordable, because they will need less time to prep your case, even though their hourly charge is more.
According to lawyers.com, the standard range in a large metropolitan city is 200 to 400 per hour.
