Contact AAA (the American Automobile Association) - they specialize in giving comprehensive and extremely up to date driving directions, including construction zones and bad traffic areas.
They put it all together in a neat flip book that you can take with you and refer to easily, and even tell you about places to eat along the way.
Much better than the on-line services.
Cheers! and Happy Motoring!
Oh, and for future reference - you usually get better answers if you put a little more detail in your questions.
