For the feel of the song Ringo Starr...for technical expertise Neal Peart...for the balance of power and subtlety John Bonham...and for originality Ginger Baker....It's all in what sounds best to your ears though at any particular moment....if you're in the mood and like jazz Buddy Rich can be the best as well.

Well, the drummer from Def Leppard only's got one arm, which is cool... especially since the band just got better after he lost his arm.
But Charlie Watts is the coolest. Rolling Stones drummer. He's so chill, he just sits there with a little smirk on his face and doesn't really move at all. He's the drummer for one of the ******** bands of all-time, and he just sits there, playing the drums... minding his p's and q's. You gotta love him for it.

Charlie Watts is my favorite and, in my opinion, the all-time greatest. Straight ahead style without all the frills and flash. I also prefer almost any drummer who maintains the simple, four-piece kit. (Snare, bass, mounted tom & floor tom.) There's no need for more. Having said that, however, I do have a soft spot in my heart for Keith Moon & Carmine Appice as well.

Bill Bruford. He has an incredibly precise and rhythmic style, and can play extremely fast with amazingly skillful control. And for anyone who mentions Neil Peart, I'd like to point out that Bruford is as good and more likely better, and was the key influence on Peart.

Well, first off it's a matter of both opinion AND what style of music your talking about. You cant compare Buddy Rich to Dave Lombardo or Dave Grohl to Mike Portnoy. There all different styles and each drummer plays according to that specific style. For Hard rock metal id say Ulrich, Portnoy, Carey, Lombardo to name a few. For Jazz, Rich, Krupa, Jones. I think that it's pretty stupid to say that a drummer "sucks" because you never know what he/she is capable of doing outside of that band if they do decide to pursue other endeavors... just my opinion.

Albert stole my answer. Charlie Watts IS the coolest. I heart him. So I'll pick another... Mick Fleetwood, the crazy bastard. He's totally insane and all over the place. The opposite of Charlie, but still fun to watch, especially during the song Tusk.

Rick Allen of Def Leppard.. He lost a arm and still continued drumming away.
But Phil Collins is the second best.. without a doubt.
