Hi there are 29 "functioning" monarchies in the world (44 if we count all of the dominions that recognize the Queen of Britain as head of state.) Here is a site that lists them all:

but this does not include "pretenders" to thrones (like Russia, Brazil, France, Austria) all of which have candidate monarchs.

Theirs a fair few monarchies left, but very little that have no power. The British monarchy have no power over here, their litle more then a harking back to our imperial days..however, you then get the House of Saud, who have a fair amount of sway with the Bush Administration (Senior and Junior)..so yeah....

One of the largest is in California somewhere, I visited there about four times when I was young. It must be in Santa Cruz area somewhere. I just love it and just blows me away everytime I visit that tour. I think about 30 to 36 in this world.
