If you couldn't sleep or didn't want to go to sleep.. but knew you had class in 6 hours, would you fight sleep or just lay there and toss and turn.. and eventually go to sleep even though it will cause nightmares, but the next day you will be sleep deprived anyways if you don't go to sleep..?????

I can relate to your concerns. Sounds like you are anxious about something and sometimes you may not even put a finger on the ‘culprit’. Try a few things. If you could not fall asleep for a while get up, straighten your bed, fluff your pillow and all that. Go get some warm milk (if you are not allergic to it) a few slices of turkey or something else that would settle your stomach and would have some tryptophan (see reference)

Do not use alcohol. It may put you to sleep but will not allow you get much quality sleep.

Go back to bed, make your self comfortable, and think positive thoughts. Do not try to fall asleep. We do not always need 7-8 hours of sleep, at least not all of us. Sometimes 2-4 hours is enough.

Your body knows what it wants.. Say for instance.. You slept really well late today.. But you need your sleep to be your best tomorrow.. Your body will say.. Dude.. You can't sleep now.. But your mind says.. Dude you work better with more sleep. But your body would win in that situation. So don't fight it. Your studies is what counts here.

I would put on some soothing animal porn, and smash that nightmare to death with a calming release of "OOOOOHHH YEAH, BABY!!!!!". It's just an idea. Hope it helps.

i would get up and try a hot long bath, doctors say it works as well as ambien sleep meds and then read a book ie. school book until your sleepy again.

I would take some Tylenol Pm... and try to get some sleep, or just try.
