Two different things, yet Australia was a huge surprise.
USA played very poorly (not allowing Donovan to play is the key to stop USA, because they do not have so many alternatives) and deserved to lose.
Australia's late score was based on
- Japan's inexperiense (too many young players)
- Good game-reading by Guus Hiddink on putting Cahill in the game
- Australia's attitude on believing in their possibilities

How could you go past the grit and determination shown by the Socceroo's to score three goals in 8 minutes. What I would give to have been in the Stadium for that. I was so proud of them and their undying never give up attitude and commitment to each other, their coaching staff, fans and country.
The USA were a little disappointing. The Czechs played a great game that let people know they are there to compete.

Impressive/loss don't really go together. Sad to see USA get defeated and great to see Austrailia rally and score 3 goals (good ! at that) in 8 minutes.

in terms of soccer it must be 3 goals on 8 minutes,
to the person who said usa its new to the sport your crazy, USA had play 5 worldcups in a row, you as the rest of the world must accept that usa made a disappointing appearence today

3 goals in 8 minutes is very impresive but for me the most impresive was seeing USa playing so bad i didnt see they playing this bad since 1990 when this same team beat usa 5-0
and for that people that say that soccer is new in USA , i have to say that USA is associated with the FIFA since 1913

I was in a large crowded bar in Japan for the game. Those 8 minutes sank a nation's spirit like nothing I have seen before!
....amazing swing of emotions.
The two Aussies in the bar were elated though :)
