I am looking for something fun to do part time this summer. I am starting to get a little bored, but I don't want to work to hard. ;) I mean this is my summer vacation.

Get a job at a bookstore. You get amazing discounts, can further your own education at your own pace and get to make a little side money plus keep yourself busy!

My mom is a teacher, and through her experience I would give a few suggestions:
*Tutoring - You already have the skills and the supplies. Let other teachers know you're interested and they're sure to refer parents to you.
*Summer School Teacher - Obvious.
*Retail - Is there a store you really like? Work a few days during the summer, they will be happy to have an educated person with a passion for the store willing to work. Great places include Restoration Hardware or Sharper Image.
*Volunteer - If you need money, this isn't the way to go. But help at a YMCA, or give your time to inner city schools or even non-English speaking students in other countries. They can always use your help.
*Other - Take the summer off and enjoy yourself, you'll be working for years!

Well, keeping lightduty during vacation time is everyone's choice, but many times boredom hits and not too many things are available to do, so as a teacher I can suggest that maybe tutoring some children for some fee. Maybe post flyers at local areas where parents can see them and suggest a fee for tutoring in special areas that are likely to hit some parents, like reading or math. Think about 45 minute sessions or 1 hour sessions. Take a maximum of 5 kids for a month. Hope this helps. My brother does this every summer and he loves it.

I know a lot of teachers who work along side me during the summers, fighting wild land fires. It would be way more than part time. But it pays well, its exciting and rewarding also. And contrary to most beliefs I work really hard only about half the time that I'm getting paid. The best thing would be that the job is seasonal, during your spare time! Trust me, it is a very rewarding line of work.

There are always summer programs that need extra help, but in all honesty they tend to give you the shaft on financial compensation. One thing you can do is offer private tutoring, this generally results in a healthy (often tax free) paycheck. Alot of the exam prep companies also need teachers and tutors for their summer programs.

Volunteer! Go abroad or help somewhere where you are needed. It's a great experience especially for a teacher. Inspire your students next semester with something REAL and be role model. You won't regret it!

Tour guide at local point of interest or museum. You teachers are really smart and know everything, so you'll be able to explain whatever it is you are standing in front of really well. Those places get busy in the summer, they can probably use the help.

Cheers!

Anything worth doing requires some degree of actual work. A great experience would be to work at a summer camp for kids. There are several types; kids from economically challenged homes, kids with learning/physical challenges. I would opt for the latter because it may open your eyes to hard, rewarding work. You will never regret it.

Look into restaurant work. If you live somewhere that has a busy summer season, there will be plenty of opportunities for seasonal work. It is fun (I bartend), you meet lots of crazy characters, and most places understand that people have summer plans and will let you work part-time, on-call, or as-needed. Banquet serving is very easy and you usually only work weekends and make lots of cash.

Come work/volunteer in an assistive technology lab. We provide special access to computers for people with disabilities. You can learn a lot in a short period of time and really help people too. Contact me if you want more information. You can really learn a lot about specialized tools for helping persons with disabilities get through school, and sometimes go to work.

How about tutor? There are still students going to school who could use assistance and you don't have to come up with a lesson plan, just pretty much explain and answer specific questions.
