Actually, the official launch of Yahoo! Answers was December 7, 2005. If you do a search for "first question on yahoo answers" you'll find a number of results, a couple by the team themselves, indicating that it was this question:

You can tell from the "10051207" part of the web address that it was asked on 2005/12/07.

2006 Because I remember exactly when it started. You can tell because Yahoos new page came a few somewere right in 2006. It wasn't listed on the frontpage, but with the new page it is.
