why didn't GHANA win even though they played very well ?

Ghana did not play "very well": they are a good Team, but they are missing tactic and technique. Their attack is very inefficient and their defense is very vulnerable. The best players (appiah, Eissen, Muntari) they have are middle fielders.
Italy's game was very tactical: strong defense and powerful attack. In addition, Totti and Pirlo did a great job sending fast balls to the forwards (Toni, Gilardino and then Iaquinta)
Each game has its own story: Italy was far more consistent and confident than Ghana and made less mistakes.
Ghana needs to gain more International experience.

well, soccer consists of many things and not just technique and strength
though Ghana played well the red-hot Azzuris (Italy) were too much for them especially the young Iaquinta

I agree with soccer_mind , Ghana has to gain more International experience..Hey this was their first World Cup, give them time and they'll be experts!

It has to be a combination of both. Italy are not only strong technically but they are also good physicaly. They will in the cup

to be a great team in soccer u need to have a lot os stuff liek gtood player good technic u need to play as a team , be in great condition and play with ur heart
