Cars were first raced in America on dirt ovals. Ever seen one? They "drft" all the way around!Most of the time with the left front tire not even in contact with ther dirt.Cool!Take one in some time.

Anything with rear wheel drive. This whole "drifting" thing isn't new. I was doing it 20 years ago in my mom's Buick Skylark.
I used to do reverse drops and make "88"'s in the road representing the year I graduated.. You probably don't even know what a reverse drop is. You young whipper snappers are all the same by golly.

It's just now getting known by everyone. Lots of everyday stuff has been around decades and is just now getting media coverage in this same way. You should try to read between the lines and not in a literal sense.

People are just now starting to pay attention to it. I've heard from guys that were doing that stuff in their hot rods just for fun long before it became popular. Don't believe the hype it's not new and it wasn't invented in Japan!

Drifting has been on dirt tracks since before Nascar was bootleggers. They're just now getting around to it on paved tracks.

quantum physics has been around for 50yrs+, yet its still a "new" idea because many people havent really appreciated the subject.
drifting has been around for a long time, but only in certain places like japan. now that the sport is growing more international, people tend to think of it as a new idea....thats why

its kind of a retro thing, just like how clothing trends tend to come back into style years after they first came out. look at it this way, its just another thing that is just now being rediscovered. id LOVE to do it! but my car is a piece.
