I lived there for two years and I think it's both. It is the hub of IT in India with InfoSys, MicroSoft and other IT companies who have set up facilities there. However, it is a beautiful city, very green and full of parks and gardens. I THINK I read it was also known as the garden city.

The greenery of Bangalore city is far less now when compare with 10-12 years before. However, outskirts of the city are still better. IT has pushed the greenery to make space for itself.
For the moment, IT and greenery both are trying to co-exist and now the time will tell which will outlive the other.

the plight of bangalore is that people have forgotten that this was once a garden city.... it is also the silicon valley of India..., but sadly at the cost of the greenery! nowadays we have to pay a price for everything! sadly, in the case of bangalore we had to pay the price of greenery for developments!
plant a sapling...........save bangalore, save India, save mother earth!
