If you are having migraines or tension headaches, you can add 1 pinch of salt (about 1/8 teaspoon) to 4 ounces of coke (pepsi, whatever), drink it while foaming. Be prepared to possibly be "sick" and drink near a bathroom. My sister in law has severe migraines and tension headaches and she swears by this treatment even though it tastes horrible. Also, you can press the area between your thumb and next finger, searching for a sore spot, then press the sore spot for 5 minutes once you find it. This is a form of accupuncture without using needles. It doesn't work as fast or as long as the first treatment, but many can't handle the thoughts of the carbonated drink/salt treatment. If it's just a plain headache, take 2 extra strength tylenol or 4 advil (200 mg), stay in a darkened room with a cool cloth on your forehead for 30 mins to an hour.

I have a favorite yoga trick that works well. Press the back of your head just above the neck with the fingers of one hand, and lift your chin up with the base of the other hand. Switch hands every half minute or so. This relieves the pressure and helps to get the blood flowing again.

In general, drinking more water helps. I have been studying how some women suffer from migraine headaches due to a reaction to hormone fluctuation. In that case, water and better nutrition can help temper that. Reducing stress helps immensely as well. Just walking or swimming or taking a bath. My parents always used a damp, cool cloth on their foreheads when they took a nap.

Go to the store and get Excedrin Migraine, and drink it with a coke. (But, do not plan on going to sleep for a while, this is a double dose of caffeine), I get migraines all the time, and can't afford the prescriptions. This works well for me. This medicine is good for all types of head aches and I even use it as a general pain reliever.

I don't know any "home" remedies, but an over-the-counter medication called Vanquish, is excellent. It's not a well-known brand and is sometimes hard to find, but it is very well worth it. I've taken it for years and it works great for headaches. Good luck!

there are lots of causes for headaches. Stress, infection, disease, injury, heredity, or any imbalance in the body. But they all have one thing in common, inflamation. The body tries to protect itself through inlammation, and it tells your to stop what ever you are doing to hurt it. Stop the stress, stop what is causing the infection, etc. There are lots of theories on headaches, but rember that the root is inflammation. you can elimnate inflation with chemicals, but they elimniate both cox1 and cox 2 (inhibitors) You only want to inhibit cox2. Try having a look at the article on this page about inflammation, or seeing if the things you are using for your headache is listed ont he drugs page.
