First of all, if anyone is giving respect to countries because of what they call the sport, they are being ignorant.

Secondly, to answer your question, I feel that the US will eventually be at the level as some of the top European countries consistantly. I believe that in 16 to 20 years the US will start to make the second round more often than not. We are still very young compared to other countries, but it 2002 we showed that we are growing, and I think that will continue for a while.

The USA will get to that level eventually, it may be 25 years from now, but when we do we'll be one of the favorites to win the world cup every time.

They will get respect when they win! I'm not talking about the actual World Cup (even though that would be sweet), but if they win a couple of games they will prove themselves.

No...... at least not until the younger generations growing up on football (soccer) gain their wings and move the game into the spotlight for their children! Perhaps 2022?

They need to claim a big scalp. Maybe if they knock off Italy (and I would have to avoid Lygon St if that happened)

I think nobody will believe in your capacity of being a great football nation as long as you'll keep calling football soccer

Well screw USA! THE winners will be Brazil, Mexico(if they're lucky), and Argentina.
