The user manual says that "Seagate does not recommend using portable external hard drive for transferring data between Windows and Mac" Is this really true???? Will my dad's PC be able to read the data? I just shipped it 2000 miles across the country ... When he plus it into his MAC, will all the data be lost?

If the drive was formatted using FAT-32, then your files will be transferrable between Mac and PC.

Your data will not be lost but your Dad will not be able to read the hard drive because Mac's and PC's use different hard drive formats.

I don't think it will be lost, he's got the mac right? so he should probably install bootcamp, which is a free software that allows mac users to install windows applications, etc. you can search for it and download it free at softonic.com, but you should probably read about it first

No... unless the data you put on it can only be read by programs that are on XP's... but I don't think it should matter and i am a computer techie type kid.
