the software itself is legal, it warns you that if you download songs with no licenses you are doing that to your own responsibility which is illegal and that you could be legally prosecuted.

Limewire itself is completely legal. However, by using it to either share or download copyrighted material, you would be breaking the law.

However, some groups like the MPAA and RIAA would like to shut networks like Limewire down and claim that they are facilitating breaking the law, sort of like a store that would sell lockpicks. This is not entirely true though since there is a lot of public domain data on Limewire.

No. Limewire and all other P2P programs are legal. What you download with it is a different story however. Music, games, and movies are illegal. However, things like pictures and home made videos are perfectly legal.

Limewire, the program is legal. It is the end user that does illegal acts when he/she breaks copywrite laws.

Limewire is not illegal. It only becomes illegal when you download music, videos, etc. that are/is copyrighted.

limewire by itself is not illegal, using it to download copyrighted files for free is what is illegal, depending on your country

Anywhwere you can download for free is illegal. Your taking money away from the artist for one because yor not buying his album or movie.

illegal and half the time the stuff downloads wrong. It gave my friend's computer a virus.
