I agree with BMWdriver11 in that I can't believe the CRAPPY places people are telling you to go! Skyline Chili and Jillian's??? Are they kidding? I disagree with Hofbrau -- great place, not the place for what you're looking for. Also, I just don't understand the obsession with Montgomery Inn. Maybe you have to be born here to get it. Here's the scoop on upscale, fine, GOOD dining in Cincinnati [from ten years of living here and eating out A LOT]: For Italian, try Bravo! Cucina Italiana on Montgomery Road. It's a little, local "chain" from Columbus, Ohio. For national chains, Maggiano's [Kenwood Mall] is also good Italian dining, and so is Brio's [I actually had my first date with my husband there]. I've never tried Barresi's but have heard great things about it. I agree that Jeff Ruby restaurants are nice [and pricey!] and excellent choices if they want steak, but the Waterfront and Tropicana are so cheesy. Tell him to try the Precinct on Delta Avenue instead or even Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse downtown. If they like sushi, go for Jo An Japanese Restaurant in Erlanger, KY. Toyota brought the chef in from Japan -- it's pricey but very good and very authentic. The Mt. Adams Fish House is also another excellent choice for sushi, but all of their food is good. If they are in Hyde Park and want a non-chain, nice dining experience, try Teller's. For seafood, try Mitchell's Fish Market at Newport. It's another little "chain" from Columbus, Ohio [which is where I am originally from, and I have met the owners of both Mitchell's and Bravo's]. I know Bonefish is a chain, but they have some great appetizers, and it's very nice. I've also had really good dining experiences at: Jimmy D's Steakhouse in Montgomery [upscale, pricey, cool atmosphere, excellent food], The Celestial in Mt. Adams [VERY romantic and VERY pricey], Nicholson's Tavern & Pub downtown [which is a Scottish pub, NOT Irish as someone else said but not super expensive or romantic], Encore Cafe in West Chester, Trio's at Kenwood and Ember's at Kenwood [very upscale]. For dessert, there is the Grand Finale, but I've eaten there twice, and I think the food is okay, not great. By the way, I agree with many choices on the AOL City Guide, so you can use that as a resource as well. Happy Dining!

I cant believe all of the people that are suggesting crappy chain resteraunts like Brio, and places like Jillians, which actually has an awful selection of crappy hamburger type foods.. There are a lot of great places in Cincinnati. First is the Montgomery Inn, they have one down on the river and one in Montgomery. Its ribs, and its probably Cincinnati's most famous resteraunt. If you like truly good authentic Italian food, try Vicenzo's in the nothern cincinnati/Glendale area. Also in Glendale is The Grand Finale which is known for its desserts (thus the name). If you are looking for a fun resteraunt and like German food, there is the Hoffbrau House, at Newport on the Levee (northern Kentucky). Its good German food (try the fried pickles) and authentic German beer (although if you are 17, that wont do you much good). They have Oompa bands marching through the resteraunt, and people dance on the tables. Its a real good time. Up Star Crow at Newport has some good live blues/jazz with dinner, and any of the Jeff Ruby Resteraunts- The Tropicana, The Celestial, Rubys (and the others as well) are all great. All of these places are great esteraunts, and are much better than any of the crappy chains that nobody can seem to go outside of anymore!

Go to Newport on the Levee and go to Brio it's Italian, we took my friend for her birthday, very nice and will be great for them. It is not cheap though. or tell him about Palomino downtown, that is a great place to take a date as well Downtown also has Nicholson's which is a fun Irish pub its a good restaurant too. There is always the Cheesecake factory in Kenwood- but if you are going out there you would be better to go over across from the mall to... I forgot the name, but it sits across from the mall not on the kenwood road side.

La Petit France is in the Cinci area and it's really good french food. Not too expensive, but she'll be impressed. However, you can't go wrong with Montgomery Inn. They have the best ribs on the planet and they keep it classy.

Haven't been to Cinci in a while, but found the area along the river to be the best place to hang out.
