She eats solids (cereal, fruit and veggies) two to three times a day but I am having a hard time knowing how many times a day she should be breastfeeding?

At six months, a baby is typically either exclusively breastfeeding or getting just *tiny* amounts of solids a day. In this case, she will nurse anywhere from 6 to 20 times a day. Every child is different. It sounds like your daughter may be getting a lot more solids than this. Until the first birthday, breastfeeding is the majority of the baby's diet; solids are extra.

The best is to follow your daughter's lead. If she asks to nurse (and, by now, presumably you know how she asks), nurse her. You cannot overfeed her by nursing.

I always fed my baby whenever he wanted it. It may be every 2 hours or it may be every 4 hours. It just depended. He was a preemie and at first I worried myself sick about him getting the "recommended" amount because he didn't always get that many ounces in a day. But I couldn't make him eat if he didn't want it and eventually I quit stressing over it and he was fine. He ate when he was hungry so that is when I fed him. But at 6 months he started the 2nd foods and ate about 2 containers of that a day and the rest was formula.

I feel that she should get the breast about 5 -6 times a day ( including night feedings) in addition to her solids. Unless of course you are giving her other liquids like water or juice, then you can leave out one feeding. Watch her weight and see if she thrives on this diet.

Mine would eat about every 3 hours except at night when she may have gone 5 hours (on a good day anyway). I think that between 6-8 feedings a day is about right... just take your cues from her! She'll let you know when she is hungry!
