Star Wars is so much better. Star Trek has poor graphics and phasers suck. Star Wars has light sabers, blasters, way better star ships and don't forget the coolest science fiction character of all time..... Boba Fett. Plus Star Wars has great video games, books, cards, figures, and magazine.

If you want a definitive answer, I'd say look at the hard numbers...Star Wars films have grossed significantly more than the Star Trek movies, if you take the Trek that made the most and put it up against the Wars that made the least you'll see how much more popular Star Wars has been to movie going audiences.

Further more, do an EBay search for the merchandise of the two, while both will boast loads of memorabilia, again Star Wars comes out way on top....STAR WARS, is the clear winner here, and it's really no contest if you look at what Data(no pun intended) that there is on the matter.....

Star Wars is pure entertainment and is very good. Star Trek at its best is considerably more. I'll give away my age here but I've been watching Star Trek since the very first episode aired the very first time. Star Trek was the first "good" science fiction ever on tv. Roddenbury was able to get away with alot simply because the censors did not look past the phasers and space ships. He was able to comment on Viet Nam, racism, drug abuse, AIDS and several other important and controversial social topics where censors were putting the nix on other programs trying to do the same things.
Both are excellent as for as which is better, it mostly depends on what I'm in the mood for at that time.

Star Wars beats Star Trek by a thousand miles - Star Trek is boring - Star Wars has lots of edge-of-the-seat action

This question is always being asked just because they're both science fiction movies, but it's like asking are oranges better than apples? They're both fruits, so which one is better?

I'm a fan of Star Trek, and loved Star Wars since I was a kid, and both are different for what they are. Star Wars is a finite (as far as movies a/o TV shows go, there infinite unofficial story books) series that's suppose to be a good vs. bad, swashbuckling movies. There is one story... how does Darth Vader become who he is and what eventually defeats Darth Vader?

Star Trek is an ongoing (not currently) series of stories and events with no particular ending or beginning. There have been different groups with different settings and story lines. Whether good or bad, the stories are more detailed and span several arches of story telling.

If you put a gun to my head and said NAME ONE !!! I'd have to off the cuff say I like Star Wars better. Just by the fact that I have watched all episodes of Star Wars several times, not because I missed anything or I need to go back for anything. It's just nice to watch again for the action and corny acting. Star Trek I haven't gone back on any particular TV or movie to watch over and over again. I've seen Star Trek 2:Wrath of Khan a few times, but that's because it was probably more like Star Wars, than Star Trek.
