Your own tools like screwdriver, hammer, etc. Just a few things. You'll be the only one on the hall with a screwdriver when someone needs one. Bring some kind of flip flops to wear to, from, and in the shower if you will be sharing a hall shower.

There are obvious things that will make the time easier and your life better like a laptop, pillow, favorite stuffed animal, camera, etc. But for a true helping item that will make your new dorm seem like home? Lots and lots of pictures from home.

Plenty of quarters for laundry was definitely the most useful :) A matress pad made my bed more comfty so that was good :)
