Sorry to hear about your bad luck. I would suggest that you don't get cheap on the hotels. I just returned and we stayed in the Days Inn on York [about 2 miles from the Battlefield] it was clean, friendly, and quiet. Free breakfast.[nice pool too]. There are other nice Hotels in the same area. The rooms are just a little more [maybe $20-30 dollars but make a big difference]. You may save on the meals...pack a lunch and eat it on your favorite part of the battlefield. Walk or bike.[This saves on the high price of gas, and you'll be surprised at how much more you'll see] and there is nothing more romantic than talking [even hold hands] between monuments. Gettysburg is rich in history, but also rich in beauty...find them both...and discover each other walking and talking .Also you can walk in town another place to see history and enjoy each others company.
...have fun, and enjoy!

Hey, if you guys are interested in the ghosts of Gettysburg, you've found your guy! If you want to stay somewhere haunted, stay in the Travelodge on Baltimore Street. They say the ground it stands on is infested with lost spirits from the great battle so many years ago. Then again there's the Holiday Inn which is on the street next to Baltimore Street. It's right next to the Jennie Wade House where she was shot in the back with a minie ball.

P.S. If you want somewhere good to eat, go to the Dobin House Restaurant. It's beautiful, very historical, and I believe is just a bit haunted. And just so you know, tour guides are $45 to have around the battleground with you. They'll even drive the car for you.

The Super 8 in Gettysburg is $88 per night according to expedia.com. Probably not that romantic, but only two miles from the park. That's a popular destination, especially in summer, so you might want to book well in advance. Good luck!
