pH = -lg [H+]
Hence,
pH = 3 means [H+] = 10^ -3
pH = 5 means [H+] = 10^ -5
pH = 3 has 100 times more H+ ions in the same volume of solution than that of a pH = 5, which means it is 100 times more acidic

Each number down is a factor of 10. So pH 3 is 100 times more acidic than pH (5-3=2, 10^2=100).

a substance with the pH of 3 is 100 times more acidic than a substance with the pH of 5. everytime the pH goes up or down by a number the difference in the acidity goes by tens because you are always using 'logs' when determining pH of a substance and 'logs' are always based on scales of 10. since there is a difference of 2 between pH 3 and pH 5, you would multiply 10 times 2 and the result you get is 100. therefore, the pH of 3 is 100 times more acidic than pH 5.

it is 10 times going down. This means 4 is 10 times more than 5. 3 is 10 times more than 4 which means it is 100 times more than a pH of 5.

a pH of 3 is 10x stronger than 4; a pH of 3 is 100x stronger than 5
3 is more acidic than 4, 4 is more acidic than 5

pH = -log [H+] { definition of pH: the base here is 10.}
so if pH=3 then H+ = 10^-3
if pH=5 then H+ = 10^ -5..
So it's 100 times more acidic (10^-3 / 10^ -5).

Asnwer: 100. Since each log point is 10 times, so 5 minus 3 is 2. and 10X10 (2 times) =100=10 raised to the 2 power
