I am not sure how you imagine bacteria is somehow isolated when where other underwear - butt thongs are not necessarily any more or less hygienic than other types of underwear...with the possibly exception of wearing them backwards for half the day...I think that would pretty much ensure any bacteria from the anus would be inoculated to the vaginal/urinary tract.

Well, consider that I always get wedgies from wearing "granny panties" so that makes my full underwear touch the anus. I like wearin less constricting underwear as it feels healthier to me. It allows you to breath better. Being closed up can cause infections. Bactria likes to live with body heat. I think that granny panties are a form of tight clothing. I feel better without them. Now if someone wears a thong that is a little too small, then that is another story. That can cause infection, the bacteria can more likely form there. And u do not want the bacteria from the back to get to the front. Infection does develop. I hope this answer helps.

Why do you think man's butt cheeks push together? It's to keep all that bacteria contained in that area. Thongs are not healthy. By that bacteria (e-coli) getting on the thongs it can spread to the vaginal area causing female infections. gross.

What is up with spunkydancer? Nothing you asked was inappropriate. And by the way thongs are okay to wear once in awhile, I do not wear or like them but that's my choice.

I've been told by doctors that thongs can be responsible for some bacteria infections, such as urinary tract infections. But I think it's rare cases.

I have heard the same thing...i heard that it can cause yeast infections especially if you wear them while exercising. I would just stick to wearing them only when you really need to if you are worried about this problem

as long as you keep your underwear clean and change it daily, you should be fine. if you're especially worried, it would be best to wear thongs made of cotton or other breathable materials, rather than fake satin or nylon.
