My parents were too poor.
I personally think that anyone that gives their kid a new car is an idiot. The reality of life is that someone is not going to give us everything we want, and we have to work for what we need (sometimes not even taking into consideration what we want). I think that gifts like that sends kids the wrong message and any parent that indulges their child that much should be knocked about the head for about an hour.

My parents have bought me 2 brand new cars.1 when i was 15 and living in LA and then another when i moved to NYC ( a hybrid) when i was 18

That **** didn't happen at my house! But then again, I got out of there before I was legal to drive.
My first car was a 79 chevette 4 door. Every thing on it was broken.... you name it, it was broke!
I got pulled over one time for speeding... I laughed in the cops face! That thing couldn't even go 55!

ha that is so funny. my parents don't even drive a brand new car themselves. i'm going to buy them their first brand new car.

I got a used 83 Chevy Citation when I was 17. It wasn't very pretty, but got good gas mileage and ran forever!

Mine didn't and I'm glad. If I hadn't gotten my own car I don't think I would have taken care of it as much as I did. I babied that car and milked for all it was worth.

not me. I'll buy my parents a brand new car one day, oh i dun drive so i dont need a car for myself......why? coz everytime i drive (my parents car 97 toyota corrolla) ...i crashed! either my own garage, curbs, other cars...you name it.....im da worst driver lol

not exactly... my grandmother did as a gift... I just got a 2007 Toyota Yaris, and I love it! great gas mileage and easy to drive

no, but I was allowed to drive my mum's car when she was not using it. Never my dad's though. I never understood that as I was a better driver than my brother and he was allowed to drive it! Not fair!!!!!!
