For a team to win, they need to make it to the second round, and then win out. This means a win in the final 16, a win in the quarter finals (final 8), a win in the semi finals (final 4) and a win in the finals (final 2). Thus for a team to win the cup, they need to win 4 more games after they make it to the second round.
There are 6 games per group and 8 groups. Therefore there are 48 group games and 48+16=64 games in all.
