LOL....You sound like me when I first became pregnant! Well I suggest listening to your body is the best way to know whats right for you. Some women stay active some women need to be more laid back. I strongly recommend exercising (I'm due in about 13 days.....and i still exercise 5 times a week). It helped me not to gain to much weight and it makes you feel good. I chose to stay active.....I haven't changed any of my habits since i became pregnant except the whole no fish and alcohol. I eat a lot of veggies and fruits, juices and lots of water! I do all the house work, shopping and errands by myself.....but every woman is diffrent and has diffrent limitations. One of the biggest things I learned is that everyone wants to tell you what you should do...but only you, your body and doctor can really tell you whats right for you. Just enjoy your pregnancy, listen you your body ....it will tell you when it's had enough (believe me!) Don't worry so much, relax and enjoy the ride!Make sure to keep an eye on your blood pressure! Congrats and good luck!

Oh high blood pressure... definitely grab an appointment with your doc, but as for the dos and donts, in the old days, women bailed hay while pregnant.. lol... but really you can just do what you are already used to doing, and no more. If you are used to bailing hay then have at er, but if not, then that would be a don't. lol.

Vacuuming and stretching to reach high places, or bending down low to scrub the tub, etc. can be hard on the umbilical cord, it can stretch. Even if the cord does wrap around the neck of baby, it is very rarely a big deal as it is easily turned the right way during birth, and as baby doesn't breath oxygen the way we do until after he/she is born. But do be careful, scientific facts change all the time, so just obeying your body is the most important thing! Try not to give in to the pregnancy's overwhelming emotions as baby can feel what you feel, you guys are very close :) Drink lots of milk, take your prenatal vitamins so you can feel like a million bucks, and keep glowing! :)

p.s. get plenty of sleep as your body is working very hard to do this thing :) CONGRATS!

Sorry to hear you don't have your mom to bounce things off. At least you have this site, although, be careful about what you read on here.

My first recommendation is going out and getting the book "What to Expect When You Are Expecting". It is a fabulous book and it is filled with the answers to most of the questions you will have.

But don't read it front to back! I did that and it scared me because then I was worried about every possible symptom happening to me. Just read the beginning of each chapter as you get to them in your pregnancy.

I think regular physical activity is fine. If you already vacuumed before then it should be alright for you to do it now. Take up walking if you don't already. See your doctor regularly and talk to a friend who has already been through a pregnancy.

Good Luck!

You've gotten some great suggestions already. Definitely talk to your doctor. They usually have several brochures and info sheets with pregnancy do's and don'ts.
Most physical activity will be fine (including vacuming), unless your doctor suggests otherwise.
Even most exercise is safe to continue. Walking and swimming are both very gentle types of exercise that help you get in shape for child-birth as well.

By the way - Congratulations. This is a very exciting time for you.

Check out Babyzone.com for a whole list of do's and don'ts. Good luck with your first pregnancy and feel free to email me if you have any other questions. I've had 2 babies in the last 19 months and can probably offer some good advice if you need it. Some don't though
*Don't change a cat's litter box
*Don't ride a bicycle due to your balance being off
*Don't lift anything too heavy
*Avoid high elevations such as the mountains
*Avoid raw eggs (even in cookie batter) and be careful of undercooked meat
*Try to avoid strong smelling cleaners. Have someone else scrub the tub and avoid mopping if you can (I slipped and fell while mopping and it scared the day lights out of me)
*Smoking, drugs, alcohol, obviously.
*Don't take hot baths, keep them lukewarm.
*Try not to stress. Enjoy these moments while you can.

Do's
*Caffeine is ok in moderation. I craved Pepsi through both pregnancies and have very healthy children. One can a day won't hurt you.
*Walk often, it will help later during labor
*Take your prenatal vitamins daily
*Eat lots of veggies
*Drink Water
*Sleep while you can!!!

You may want to talk to your doctor, avoid greasy foods, the greasy food is not good for you and i know its hard but alot of junk food isn't a good idea, u can do the basic stuff i wouldn't lift alot of stuff just to be on the safe side especially if this is your first. Tell you doctor about you blood pressure.

pregnancy are divided into three stages: first, second and third trimester. In the first trimester, which is the first 3-4 months, body organs are beginning to form and wont be mature until the second-third trimester. So don't smoke, drink, or what not during the first trimester or else your baby will be born with defects and deformation.

Hun just try to relax, eating a well balanced diet could help with ur blood pressure. Also any physical activity that you did before your were pregnant. is fine to continue doing they say. Just don't push yourself if your body says to slow down then slow down. Good luck and congrats!

Unless their is some medical reason for you not doing anything your fine continue with your everyday activities just no heavy lifting. Try to keep your stress levels down and avoid alot of salt.
As for caffiene and fish they arent a complete no just in small amounts.

remember women have been having babies for centuries. They did manual labor while preg. If you have any problems your doctor will advise you on what to avoid otherwise live life like you always do. Its towards the end that things get dificult but i still did everything i could i even moved by myself because my hubbie was in Iraq. Of course i got my bro and dad to move the furniture.
