Sort things out by what they are. Kitchen: dishes, pots, glass ect. clothes should be sorted out by size, Men's, Woman's, Children, and price. Things that you just want to get rid of put in a box and put one price on the front of the box. Price each item according to value. If it's worht $1.00 or $5.00. Furniture, yard stuff, other more big ticket should go for the price you would pay if you were yard sale shopping. Just remember to not make things pricey, sort according to what the items are, and advertise in your local paper AND put NO EARLY BIRDS. people come way before you expect if you don't put that on. Best time to sell are Thurs., Fri., Sat. from 9-6 and Sun. 9-3or4depending on how early you want to close up shop. This worked well for me and also have someone there to help with breaks and to keep an eye on things with you. Trust nobody!Good luck on your sale!

The whole point of a garage sale is you have things you don't need, and you want to sell them to someone who does want them. My advice is to price things low enough so that if George went and saw something that his friend Cindy might like, he would be it because you put it low enough where he could do that.
I go crazy at sales that have baby/kids clothes for a quarter or 50 cents because I can use them, and I can give some away. Less clutter and more money at the end of the day for you. Plus, if I find a really good sale, I would actually call or tell my neighbors about it. Cell phones make that really easy. Have a great day, and just get rid of your things by selling them so that people buy them who need them.

*Make sure to have lots and lots of dollar bills and change.
*For the clothing, try putting up some rope between two trees or something to hang the clothing on. Or fold it neatly on a table. Make sure each item is clean and doesn't looked wrinkled.
*Make sure you get up early, even if you post the hours as 8-5, expect people to show up early... probably even as early as 7AM.
*Make sure each item is clearly displayed and priced.
*If you are having a multi-family, or just multi-person sale have each person's items labled with a different colored sticker so that you can know who to credit the money to.
*Start saving your plastic sacks from the grocery store/wal-mart to use to put items in if people buy a lot of stuff.
*Post signs everywhere. Put an ad in the local flyer/newspaper. See if stores (grocery stores) have a community board where you can place an announcement.
*Make sure you check with your local community to make sure you don't need a permit to have a garage sale. Otherwise you might wind up paying a fine if you are reported.
There, hope that helps....

Put out signs a week in advance.Advertise in local paper and state if you will still be open even if it rains or not.If you do not feel like placing prices on everything then do it by tables or areas.Say for instance all clothes for a dollar if adult and fifty cents for children.Always keep amounts even so it is easier to give totals and change.Like 25,50,1.00 or 2.00 and so on.Keep plenty of change handy.Try to keep area clutter free and don't be afraid to go down on price.Just sale everything and reap in the rewards.

Make sure you advertise in your local paper and put signs around your neighbourhood.
Have everything clearly priced and wear a fanny pack with the money in it at all times to avoid the money being stolen.
Organise your items so that all the clothes are together, all the books etc etc...
