I think it mainly comes from worrying too much what other people are going to think, which is in and of itself enough to potentially cause paranoia. A sense of humor is a must in life and if you learn to just boost your own self confidence and feel sure of yourself, even in the most awkward moments you won't find them near as difficult to deal with, especially an ordeal such as embarrassment. Dont sweat it. Remember everyone else has at one time or another been through the exact same thing. Pamela

I would say it is, because you become paranoid that those around you suddenly think of you in a way which you did not want to be thought of. It may be more of a mix of paranoia and surprise, and can be closer to one or the other. Shyness, however, would have to be categorized a little differently, as it does not necessarily have to incorperate the negative feelings normally associated with paranoia. More of a feeling of inferiority I suppose. Paranoia can onset without the inferiority complex, as a form of jealousy or guilt. Either way, I guess it gives the feeling that someone or something else has a power over you, but so does sadness, anger, and confusion. Happiness is really the only truely free feeling.

no, because you can condition yourself so that embarassment won't have that much of affect on you. Like if you know that things happen (accidents) and that sometimes people have different reactions then embarassment wont be that serious. Its a natural human emotion that you can lessen. Paranoia is just worry but worry of a cause that you have encountered.

Sort of, because when you're embarrassed, you're taking for granted that everybody is watching you and that you're the center of attention. Truth is, they probably couldn't care less.
