listen ill explain
In every group of four each team plays everyone else in their group. (for example: A vs. B and C vs. D) then when those matches are done A vs. C and B vs. D then the last matches of the "group stages" A vs. D and B vs. C---- Now a win is 3 points a tie or draw is 1 point and a loss is 0 points. The top 2 teams in each group proceed to the next round of 16 while the rest are out of the competition

hi there.it can be a bit head puzzling.but here goes.the united states team has three games in it group, they played the czech rep today and lost 0-3.this is not the end of them, they have two more group games left and two more chances to try and get to the next round.but on today's lost,it will be harder, the next game is against italy and then ghana.and also have other results fall into place.the group of 4 teams is something different, each team plays 3 games in its group and the winner and the runner up goes thru to the next round.the bottom two go home,no prizes for coming third or fourth.

1st of all, i have to make the fact clear to everyone here is there are 198 countries took part in FIFA Football World Cup 2006. what started on 9th June 2006 and is happening now until 9th July is final of FIFA Football World Cup 2006 in Germany.
the host, Germany has automatic place in final of FIFA Football World Cup 2006. the other 197 countries around the world have to take part in qualifying round in their own continent since 3 years ago in order to book a place in final of FIFA Football World Cup 2006.
at the end of day only 32 countries managed to get into final of FIFA Football World Cup 2006. the current final tournament features 2 stages, a group stage and a knockout stage.
the 1st stage will play in group stage. 32 countries team will be assigned to 8 groups with 4 teams each group. the group stage is conducted in round-robin basis. every team will play a match against 3 other teams in a group. 3 points will be given to a win, 1 for a draw, and 0 for a loss. after every team completed 3 matches in group stage, the top 2 teams with higher points from each group will advance to next 2nd stage.
the 2nd stage is conducted in knockout basis. every team manages to advance to this stage will play single-elimination match which team play each other in one-off match. each team will play 90 minutes match to decide the winner team to advance to next round. if after 90 minutes and the result is draw, extra time and penalty shootouts will be used to decide the winner team to advance to next round. this format will be used from round of 16 and follow by quarter-finals, semi-finals, and a final.
this is some of simple explanation of how final of FIFA Football World Cup 2006 work.
USA team just played 1st match of their group match and it has 2 more matches to play, so i can not tell you whether the team still in or not. the thing most of people understand out of the match is USA team got 0 point out of the match and Czech Republic team got 3 points. from my point of view, USA team has disadvantage to advance to knockout stage. basically, i can tell you whether USA team is able to advance or not after their 2nd match against Italy.if you want to know after that, give me an email.
have a nice World Cup day
