If they are cutting themselves they have some psychological problems. They really need to talk to a professional. They obviously looking for something. Cutting yourself is not a good idea, but it is a cry for help.

Cutting is a last-chance bid for attention before the next step - suicide. If their parents don't KNOW, then they can't help. Parents are often the last to know that something is seriously wrong because many teens shut down, thinking their parents don't understand or don't care. We clueless parents just assume that our kids are going through a "phase", and because we're generally more tolerant than our parents were we don't see th signs of self-abuse or self-mutilation until the scars are set.

The person your friends will listen to more than their parents is you! Obviously you do care and understand. It's not a good idea to talk to their parents - they'll feel betrayed by you - but they need to find the courage to go to their busy workaholic parents and GET THEIR ATTENTION before they lose all hope and commit that final, fatal act.

I am not familiar with this but I think people that do this sort of thing have emotional and deep psychological problems. They all probably need counselling for this type of behavior. Maybe deep down inside they are afraid they will lose the people that love them? Or, maybe they feel like they can no longer communicate with folks so they resort to harming themselves. I am not a pschologist, just a regular guy trying to give you some thoughts about it. If I was you I would stop doing that to my body and try to find out the reasoning behind doing this.

Good Luck and just remember Jesus Loves You

if they are cutting themselves they must seek help. They feel unloved so they think suicide is the answer. I speak from experience. I once got picked on by alot of my friends when I was in school and thought about hurting myself all the time, so I put myself in a mental institution to get help. I got counseling and medicine and today I am a better man. I know now that if i would have killed myself then i would have never met my wife and had so many friends to back me up when I am in trouble. I did this all in 1991. Now in 2006 I have never ever thought of committing suicide since. I love my life, i have way too much to live for. Hope this helps.

Hurting self is always not a good sign. They hurt themselves with several reasons. Feeling of not needed, not loved, not being understood, craves attention, enjoys the pain...etc.

Listen to them well, guide them to seek some help if you can. Going to hospital or seeing therapist would be the best. I hope everything will goes well for you and your friends.

People "cut themselves" to relieve pain, inner demons. They need to seek professional assistance from a trained advisor before it's too late. Other's judge too much of the world and set standards for which we are all supposed to live by unfortunately, we are all different and should be accepted for such.

WTF!!!! How stupid do you need to be to even ask that question? If your friends are stupid enough or have such low self esteem why not try to help them. They need help ASAP. Be a friend and talk to them about it, why would they feel that cutting themselves will get them love? What guy wants to deal with all that drama? None! If they don't want to stop sadly you need to stand up and talk to someone like the parents or a school counselor so they can get the help. Good luck with that.

A-lot of people have a problem with 'Self-Mutilation', sometimes it is a clinical depression to where they like pain so much to where it gets to where they cannot feel it, sometimes it IS for attention. It is very seldom that one will mutilate themselves for Love. As far as understanding... it seems to me that they have a very good and special friend who cares and loves them, because YOU asked the question.

am sorry to hear the story and you should be there for your friends because, they need your help.Simply is that you can talk to them 15 minutes a day and you tell them how wonderful they are and you want to be friend with them the rest of their lives. An act of kind word and the love of you being there for them will make their differences and also your spirit.Keep doing it The reason is NO ONE LOVE THEM AND NO ONE HAS TIME TO FIND OUT AND UNDERSTAND WHAT THEIR NEEDS.

This is a desperate cry for help, all understanding aside, anytime anyone hurts themselves to get attention, they are in need physiological help. This is a dangerous past time and it should be reported to the proper authorities parents IE councilors. There is never a reason to hurt yourself.
