there is no real girl board or boy board, although there is a company named "girl". anyways, just give it a shot. ride around the block to practice getting balance (I really didn't need to do that what I just said when I started, wonder why). as for boards, if you ever go to a skateshop in town, you will see that they are not cheap or inexpensive (unless you go to walmart but the boards they sell SUCK). go on google maps and do a search on it if you zoom in at your town. but unless you start going on halfpipes or start ollieing, you dont need to get a new one. keep the one you have for a little longer untill you can jump on your board and not fall off 99.99999 percent of the time. the perfectly good board is going to be useless if you cant skate rigth. by the way, don't get girl bearings, they're not that good.

Ive been skating for 3 years now, so the main key in skateboarding is to find your balance, and dont be afraid, youre never going ot accomplish anything if youre gonna puss out, just go for it, stomp it, ride away and be happy, the best thing to start with is your ollie, once you get ollies, it opens up a whole new world, for help on ollies contact me directly... To get your balance, ride around, set up obstacles to manuever through, alot of peoples balance is the back foot on the tail and the front on the front truck bolts. Try CCS for boards, or idustrial ride shop, and all boards are NOT the same, get used to a certain company, I ride black label Theyre good, they use "Monster Press' which is when they are pressing the boards (curving Them) they make the nose (the bigger part, the bigger part is not the tail, the nose is bigger to help catch the tricks and to get bigger air) longer, and more bent. I like black label, and they have really good quality and last long.

You should talk to your brother about tips and advice...if he's a true skater he should be willing to help you. Type in "skateboarding tips" into any search engine. That should give you some info. Good luck!

P.S. My number one tip: don't fall off!
