You're period will be irregular for the first couple of years or so. Don't worry about telling your mom. She's probably the best person to go to. She's been having her period for a while so she could help you. If it's too embarassing to say, write her a note telling her your problem and maybe asking to talk in private. Some causes for delayed periods are weight loss and stress. Don't worry. If you really want to be sure, you may want to go see a doctor. Gynecologists are nice and they understand. I would see a woman gynecologist because I'd feel more comfortable. Good luck.

I answered this for another girl.
I am a nurse,
First of all...
Sometimes within the first few years this could be normal but you seem to be having this for some time. If you haven't had sex, or haven't been "Fooling around" with any penis/vaginal touching then you wouldn't be pregnant.
You need to tell your mother.
during the First two years it is normal for a girl to skip around periods as her body gets used to setting her cycle. some girls go every single month, some do not.
Some girls have drops in hormone levels which can affect their periods. Some girls have what is called insulin resistance. Are you over weight? Do you have hair in places you shouldn't?? (hair over your lip or hairy arms ) do you have a dark ring around the back of your neck?
This is a pre-cursor to what is known as PCOS, Polycyctic Ovarian Syndrome. This can also cause skipped periods.
You need to go see a doctor preferrably a gynecologist to discuss this. You may have a decreased hormone level that can be fixed simply by taking birth control pills which can regulate your cycle. (Is not permission to have sex... it's a treatment for what is happening.....)
Your mom will not freak. You can print this out and show her if you wish. But if your NOT having sex, then you do need to see a doctor. This can be normal if your hormone level is low.
Im not sure how much you know about sex, and its not my place to explain that to you, I know when I had the sex talk with my 12 year old daughter this year, I was shocked at what she thought sex was. It was kinda funny... but she honestly believed it and so did all of her friends that age too. So talk with your mother, tell her what is going on and go to the doctor.
Please don't be scared though.... its perfectly normal for a girl to skip like that... especially when they trying to regulate their cycle.

Honey, if you haven't had sex, you're not pregnant. That's the first thing.
Secondly, young ladies your age are notorious for having unusual and erratic periods.
But finally, you do need to tell your mom that your period hasn't been around for a very long time and you want to see a doctor. There are many things, most of them very minor, that could cause this kind of absence of menses.
Are you very thin or athletic? That can affect a period. Don't freak out. Talk to your mom and I'm sure she'll make an appointment for you to go see your pedicatrician. Good luck.

That's normal, when your cycle first starts your hormones aren't regulated yet. Your mom won't go nuts. Medically, you need a low dose birth control pill to get your periods regular. It will keep your hormones at certain levels so you will have a cycle every 28 days. My daughter had the same problem except she kept having a cycle that wouldn't go away. She was put on birth control for 3 months and now she is fine. Tell your mom, she won't freak out, she will help you.

Its ok to be scared, but realize that this is your only body and you need to take care of it if you think something is wrong. You period is going to be very irregular the first few years. Mine was just like that all throughout my teen years then my gyno finally suggested birth control pills. If your worried about talking to your mom, most clinics or gyno offices have a call in number that you can ask nurses some questions without giving any personal information.

It is normal to be irregular for about the first two years. Your weight can sometimes effect your period too. You should talk to your mom about this too, she was your age once and she can even call her doctor and even make you an appointment it you two feel necessary, dont be nervous just talk to her, if it causes problems you can even go on the pill to help you become regular, but that is definitely for a doctor to decide. But this could also be something else and they can to tests to find out. Please just talk to your mom or even a friends mom to help you tell your mom, whatever makes you more comfortable but you need to talk to her she will help you thats what shes there for.

Ask to see your doctor for a check up. Sometimes it takes a little while for periods to settle down to regularity, but you never know so it would do you world of good to go talk to your doctor about this. Don't worry, as a woman there will be many such visits, especially if you decide to have a baby. As far as worrying about being pregnant goes, unless you have had sexual intercourse or risky petting (genitals touching) it is highly unlikely. Again, a doctor is a good one to clear up misinformation on this.

Well, I don't think your mom will go nuts. Maybe she will take you to the doctor to make sure everything is OK with you. I would tell her, because you want to be in good health, don't you? Don't be scared, your mom is a woman and she understands about these things. Besides, she wants the best for you! Good luck!

first you should never be scared to talk to your mom about these types of things....she is a woman and has lots of experience with periods and might be able to offer some advice.
second...if you have not had intercourse then there is NO way you are pregnant.
lastly, not having your period can be related to a lot of things including stress, hormonal changes, weight loss/gain, nutrition, exercise, etc. it is very common for athletes to not have a regular menstrual cycle. plus you are only 13 so your body is going through a lot of changes and it may take a few years for things to regulate so that it is more regular. some women never get their regularly (i'm one of them actually) and there is nothing physically wrong with them. talk to your mom first and see what she says about it. she may want to take you to a doctor to be checked out, but she may think it is normal.

You need to see a doctor as soon as possible. If you can do so without telling your mum, then go for it, otherwise you are going to have to tell your mum. It is quite important as not having your period for seven months is quite a serious mater and could be related to something really dangerous if you don't get it sorted out quickly. Go to the doctor today, don't waste any more time.
