Ok the other answer didnt really explain it to well....If you have cable internet or dialup, or dsl or whatever....there are two sets of ips to consider, external, and internal....

Your cable modem has an external ip, which is say...xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx....ok...

if you dont have a router or gateway, this will be your computer ip as well...

however, if you have a router, it will assign internal ips to all computers on your network....like this.....192.168.8.xxx....

if you go to www.whatismyip.com, it will show you your external ip.....

to see your internal ip, go to start> network connections> and double click on your local area connection....then click the details tab at the top.....

anyway hope this helps....

Your computer IPs would be almost identical, except for perhaps the last digit if you are connecting through a network. If all computers are connecting through a dialup, (which is impossible unless you have more than one phone line), then yes, all IPs are the same. However, if you are using a network, their last digit is different, otherwise all others are the same. E.G. Computer A is 153.99.32.1 and Computer B is 153.99.32.2.

if your whole house is running through the same router or modem, if you have connection software on all the computers unless they are set to specify a specific IP adress then they will automaticly be the same, if your not sure if your modem has a router go to internet explorer, mozilla or whatever and type 192.168.0.1 and if a page comes up then you do

no, unless u pay for 2 seperate modems. aka 2 times the payment to your highspeed provider. if not then u are using a router hence u have 1 external ip and thousands on internal ips.
Ur router ips can be 10.1.X.X or 192.168.X.X . MOST if not ALL router bought from the store are 192.168.X.X my router has the abilty to have ANY ip range i assign. right now i use 192.168.X.X
